Perched high above the Gold Coast, Cloudbreak reimagines one of the city’s most recognisable vantage points. Once home to a local landmark known simply as The Castle, it now stands as a sculptural residence defined by precision, proportion, and quiet confidence. Rising from the hillside in layered progression, each level opens to new light and perspective – an ascent that connects earth, ocean, and sky.

The home’s strength lies in its simplicity. Clean geometry, deep reveals and deliberate restraint form a composition that feels both monumental and calm. Within these lines, warmth emerges. Grey microcement flows through each space, grounding the structure in texture. Dark timber softens the tone, while stone and Marrakesh Onyx lend depth and luminosity as daylight shifts. The palette is cohesive and timeless – crafted to age beautifully, not perfectly.

Movement through the home unfolds like a story. The entry is quiet and cocooned, leading to a wellness retreat carved into the hillside with sauna, plunge pools, and a private cinema. As you rise, the light changes. A glass floor refracts water from the rooftop pool above, scattering reflections across living spaces designed for connection and pause. Expansive glazing draws the horizon inward; mornings open to the ocean, evenings close with the glow of the hinterland. Every detail – acoustic design, temperature, and light – is seamlessly controlled by an integrated automation and sound system that enhances rather than interrupts.

Above, the rooftop offers complete immersion. Water meets sky, framed by concrete, glass, and greenery. Privacy is shaped through proportion, not separation; openness comes from the sense of belonging within the elements. By day, the surface shimmers with the Pacific light; by night, it transforms into a still reflection of the stars.

Cloudbreak is a study in how architecture can move you. Every junction, surface, and shadow speaks to collaboration and care – the meeting of craft, engineering, and intent. It’s a home that captures both mastery and emotion: grounded in structure yet fluid in experience.

Recognised as the 2025 HIA Gold Coast & Northern Rivers Home of the Year, Cloudbreak stands as a testament to the precision, collaboration, and vision that shaped it.
