Finca Talluca is a bespoke single storey residence designed by HGA Architects to both respond to and recede into its natural surrounds. Located on Yugambeh Country, the home enjoys private frontage to Currumbin Creek – a defining feature that shaped the orientation and flow of the design. The project is anchored by a sequence of rammed earth spine walls that create structural integrity, passive thermal performance and a sense of shelter grounded in the landscape.

The T-shaped floor plan places private spaces to the rear of the site, while communal areas step down in terrace-like levels toward the creek. This gentle descent mirrors the topography, creating a sequence of immersive yet connected thresholds.

Precision craftsmanship is evident throughout. Rammed earth walls are interspersed with custom steel-framed clerestory windows and origami-like portals designed to capture breezes and views. A standout feature is the cantilevered corner window above the kitchen – a structurally complex detail executed without visible support in collaboration with engineers at Westera. The result is both elegant and technically sophisticated.

Material selections including Abodo thermally modified timber cladding in a ‘Teak’ finish, natural stone, and custom steel are integrated with restraint and consistency. Mechanical services such as air conditioning, blinds, and automation are fully concealed, preserving the clean architectural expression. The outcome is a high-performance home that is tactile, enduring, and finely attuned to its setting.

Most recently, Finca Talluca was recognised at the HIA Gold Coast & Northern Rivers Awards, winning Greensmart Sustainable Home, Bathroom of the Year over $60k, Bathroom of the Year, Kitchen of the Year over $100k, and Kitchen of the Year.
